WHAT HAPPENS AT A CAKE SMASH / SPLASH?
The first photos will be some simple portrait images of your little one on his/her own. We can also get a family photo at this time as well. Second, I will photograph your baby having a blast and smashing the cake! And lastly, after a triumphant smash session, your baby will most likely be covered in cake, and I won’t lie, you may be too. Why not toss them in a tub?! A cute, baby-sized tub with an even more adorable baby in it makes for some amazing after-smashing session photos.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY CAKE SMASH / SPLASH SESSION?
Mostly everything is provided for you! I supply a cake, an outfit for the cake smash, headbands, bonnets, and all of the props. Everything is washed after each session with detergents that are free of harsh chemicals. I only ask that you bring a towel and one outfit for the baby for your family photo.
Additional charges may apply for more elaborate set designs - just talk with Lauren about your vision, and she will bring it all to life!
LOCATION AND WHEN TO SCHEDULE A CAKE SMASH
Cake smash photo sessions can occur in the studio, but I am delighted to head outside in nice weather. If you’re looking for portraits to showcase at your baby’s first birthday party, I will need to schedule your session for about a month in advance of the party. This will give me enough time to fully edit your photos and send them off to the printer in time. If you’re not under any deadline, anytime the month before or after your baby turns one is a great time.
CAN I CHOOSE MY OWN THEME FOR THE CAKE SMASH SET?
Absolutely! I will send you some ideas, but if you have a theme you are thinking of, I would love to recreate it for you! So let your imagination run wild!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR BABY
Generally, babies haven’t had much chance to find themselves alone with a cake in the first year of life. Because of this, the reactions vary pretty broadly! No matter the response, this session will surely evoke some belly laughs. Some babies go at their cake with precision and gentle hands. In contrast, some go at it with brut force, cake and frosting flying around the studio!
