PROFESSIONAL

HEADSHOTS

Headshot photography is essential, especially in this fast-paced, highly competitive online society.

A good, clean, professional headshot is often a potential client's first impression of you, your brand, and your business.

It is an important marketing tool, explicitly engineered to highlight your best qualities.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHERE DO WE TAKE THE PHOTOS?

This type of session is regularly done in the studio but can also be done at your place of business, or any location of your choice!

HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION TAKE?

This session would generally take about forty-five minutes to an hour, but it depends on how many wardrobe changes you would like to do.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Come to the shoot with a few wardrobe options. I advise avoiding overly bright colours and eye-catching prints. Headshots are supposed to be about you, not your clothes, so keep it simple. Images will be cropped at the waistline and above, so bottoms and shoes won’t show. If you need direction, check out my style guide here on Pinterest.

DO YOU DIRECT CLIENTS DURING A SHOOT?

A client’s biggest concern going into a shoot is their self-observed performance as soon as they face the camera. “What do I do with my hands” is the common question that everyone asks. First off relax, take a deep breath, and let me know if you need assistance! I will be more than happy to help show you some easy stress-free poses!

Corporate Headshots vs Actor Headshots

Many clients need headshots, and they’re just unsure what “type” of headshot suits them best. That’s okay; I’m here to help! Here is a basic summary of the difference.

Corporate:

This type of shot is typically shot with a white, black, grey or office-type backdrop.

Generally used for business cards, promotional use, business websites, or social media profile pictures (think LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or any professional platform)

The wardrobe is typically business casual or in uniform.

Actor:

Actors/Actresses typically need images that represent themselves in numerous roles with different characters.

Characteristics of actor headshots include:

More usage of coloured backdrops

Complete styling. Wardrobe, hair, and makeup come together to form a “character.”

More variability in lighting (are we going for happy and bright or dark and moody?)
